Baby Aubree – Newborn – 8 days old

by Lisa Richmond

Sigh… another scrumptious newborn. Lucky me!

You may remember mom, the gorgeous Danielle from our maternity shoot not so long ago. Well now welcome Aubree, who joined us shortly thereafter. I got to meet her at just eight days old for a newborn session that is part of the baby package her parents purchased.

As with all newborn sessions, you have to go in with a calm disposition and lots of patience because babies run the show: Aubree was no exception. Diapers, feedings, rocking, crying, sleeping…. it’s a constant dance to capture whatever you can between the split-second emotions and needs of a new baby. And yet oh-so-fun. I love that, after we soothed Aubree into a deep sleep, we were able to incorporate a saddle that is Danielle’s mom’s. Her mom is a world-class equestrian rider and it’s so wonderful when you can have props that really mean something to a family. Not that it was easy to balance a newborn on a saddle.

Some of my absolute favorites from this session are the super close-up detail shots of her tiny hands and feet, downy skin, and that heart-stopping burst of a mid-sleep smile. So sweet.

Many thanks to Dottie from Camino Flower Shop for her friendship and always being so generous with the loan of all her beautiful props.
