Families

  • I think the Little Family were the first folks we met when we moved to Pollock Pines in 2000. Bob and my husband Jeff have worked together as foresters since then. If am not mistaken, at that time Jack was an infant, my daughter Jaz, just a future thought, and Kim was driving school buses for the district while studying for her masters. I could have gotten the timeline completely wrong, which sadly, wouldn’t surprise me at all. I love when I get the opportunity to photograph the Littles, who, by the way, aren’t so little anymore. Well, Bob and Kim, yes, but Jack and Macy? Fast forward 14 years:…

  • These images make me smile. I’ve known these two for over 10 years. Our kids were in daycare together from the beginning. During one of my recent mentoring sessions  I needed a couple models for some out in the field shooting, so I asked them. I knew they would be perfect. Love these two -warm hearts and a great sister connection! I’d love to photograph your children this holiday season. I’m going to head out this week to capture my children though, somehow, I don’t think it will be as easy:) It never is with your own.

  • As you might have remembered, Casey Moreland came in to this world with a bang, stunning her mama whose labor progressed from just getting started to delivery in about 30 minutes. Casey continues to capture my heart, as does her family who are warm, loving and engaged. Photographing Newborn Lifestyle sessions are quickly becoming a passion of mine because of the story I get to tell of a baby’s first days in their new home. Baby is relaxed and the family is connected because, well, home is where the heart is. Can’t wait to meet up with The Moreland Family in 6…

  • A lifestyle session captures your family just as your family is. It is about letting go and just being yourselves–unscripted. It is about capturing images that are real and not perfect. AND it is just about the easiest way to roll when you have a newborn and a three-year-old…perhaps the only way to roll. This session was about welcoming Baby Freya into her new home. After capturing big brother Finn’s first year, I couldn’t be happier to get to document their growing family, their love for life, and for each other.  I have been photographing this family for years (actually before they…

  • Katrina was an adventurous bride, and now she’s an adventurous mama-to-be! Big smile, big heart, and big beautiful belly. She happily tromped around the riverside with me while I hunted for that scrumptious light. She and Joe married in 2013 (You can see it here).  Their marriage brings together two families, with kids Jordan and Shayla now eagerly awaiting their new little sibling. I met up with everyone again for a field trip. (No, really, in a field!) One of my favorite things about being a photographer is when I get to watch couples grow into their marriage and then,…

  • What a beautiful day, down at the river’s edge at Alder Creek Tract, just up Highway 50. The Bonzo family won an auction item of a free session that my business donated for a local fundraiser. As most sessions go, there is a period of warming up to each other, and of course, the kids, wondering…What have Mom and Dad gotten us into?! Well, I don’t want to put words in their mouths–but while those feelings may have existed–any worries soon subsided into a really fun and laid-back session. Lisa and Ed have raised completely delightful children: David, Emma, and…

  • Keith and Leslie are expecting their fourth child in June. This time they decided not to find out if they would be having a boy or girl. Since they already have one or more of each – Steve (7), Miles (4) and Aubriella (2) – this one’s all about the surprise. Although four children might sound like a lot of work, I can see why this couple enjoys a larger family; they simply take it all in their stride. Inevitably kids will wander in and around during the session while you’re focused on other family members. Yet,  I was amazed…

  • Lindia is a friend and neighbor. We have gotten to know each other while sharing a walking group on Mondays and our daughters play together. Up here in our close-knit community of Pollock Pines, when someone is struggling, we all feel it and gather to do whatever it is we can do to help. So, when I learned that Lindia had been diagnosed with breast cancer, I immediately knew it was time to schedule a shoot – some time to capture her fighting spirit and the love and support of her family as she begins treatment. I originally had in…

  • Alright, I gotta say it: I thought I was done with baby-making but this little guy might just have changed my mind. (Just kidding, Jeff. Just kidding.) But seriously… Devan is devastatingly cute. I met up with him and his mom and dad, Kim and Sean, at East Portal Park in Sacramento for the latest session in their baby package. You may remember Kim and Sean’s wedding at Donner Lake in 2012 and one of my favorite engagement sessions was paddle-boarding with them on Lake Tahoe the prior July. It’s great to see them now as parents and they’re pretty…
