  • A stunning, private camp in the high Sierras and an amazingly warm and welcoming family – what a dream session! The Veerkamp family and I have been colliding since 2009, when I photographed Gretchen and Matt’s wedding. Since then, the happy couple have been in the wedding party for a few of the weddings I have photographed, and then I ran into Lori and Doug (Matt’s parents) at another wedding last year. Finally, when I saw Lori and her mom at the movies recently, she decided it was fated and scheduled an extended family session at their property up-country. This…

  • Ilyce is a triathlete and Pete is a runner. They met at the New York City Marathon in 2009 and were dating less than a year later. After Pete proposed at their home in San Francisco last November, they immediately decided on a destination wedding so that their friends could take time to enjoy the local area as well as the wedding celebrations. Northstar at Tahoe on a beautiful, clear-blue-sky summer day was the perfect location, and I was lucky enough, as Northstar’s preferred photographer, to be chosen to capture their special day. Ilyce and Pete began their day with…

  • What do a roasting pig, a praying mantice, a large river rock, a bluegrass band, and a cool river all have in common? They all came together to make a memorable day for Mele and Ryan as they married at Mele’s family cabin, just off of Highway 50 in Strawberry, California. This was an intimate and relaxed wedding that beautifully expressed the personalities of both Mele and Ryan, beginning with an informal photo session with the soon-to-be-married couple admidst the majestic pines near the cabin. Then the ceremony was held atop the highest rock above the river, where their guests watched…

  • I had almost forgotten how much energy corralling two toddlers can be! That was until I met up with the Pooley family recently at Larsen’s Apple Barn. Supa’ mom, Amy, and her extended family have been clients and friends of mine for some time and I love them all….Amy’s sister, Emily’s, wedding, Amy and Brian’s wedding, their extended family and the list goes on. This time, as luck would have it, Amy was the winner of a session I donated for auction at CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for abused and neglected children). Prior to getting her hands full, full-time,…

  • Jen and Dave are getting married in August, with a weekend long celebration at the American River Resort in Coloma. And, as you can see, they enjoy kayaking. Living in the Sierra there are so many beautiful slopes to ski, trails to hike, and lakes to explore. I just love it when I run into couples like Jen and Dave who enjoy outdoor adventure as much as I do and want to incorporate that into their session; it’s the perfect blending of my two passions plus it makes their session so much more unique and personal. The “Just Engaged” signs…

  • Kelly and Chase purchased my Baby Package and this was their third session with me to celebrate their daughter, Makena’s, first birthday. You can see her newborn photos here and her 5-month session here. Wow, how time flies! Makena was super cute as the birthday princess in her little pink tutu, prancing around Larsen’s Apple Barn, in Camino. Meanwhile mom had fun swapping out outfits, ribbons, and accessories. Unfortunately, Makena was also teething, poor thing, which meant she wasn’t all smiles. Mom, Dad, and I spent some time holding her, distracting her with new activities, and, finally, soothing her with a welcome…

  • I have been photographing Wyatt and his family for some time now; he is the last Nickel son to graduate this coming May. Over the years, I have photographed his brother, Matt, on his snowboard, and Hayden on the golf course,  so it seemed fitting that Wyatt and I would take advantage of whatever late-season snow was still around, to get in jumps over at Sierra at Tahoe. I’m a BIG fan of Senior sessions that capture the personality and vitality of the guy or girl I’m photographing. You’re only a Senior once, at your physical peak and with so…

  •   What a fun and playful session this was! Kellie told me that she and her family wanted their photos taken playing in the snow. In February the white fluffy stuff isn’t normally hard to come by but not so this year. So, it took a bit of searching through up-country to find the setting we needed. We drove up Iron Mountain Road, which snakes between the 50 and the 88, parked and walked in until I found some truly gorgeous light coming through the trees. Ahhhh… I’m so lucky to work in such a beautiful area! Unfortunately, along with…

  • Kim and Sean love anything outdoors so Truckee, with its proximity to many gorgeous locations, was the perfect location choice for them. From their family Donner vacation home to the Assumption Catholic Church, to Donner Lake and then to Tahoe Donner Lodge- we pretty much hit it all! So many beautiful moments at this wedding. Clearly Kim and Sean have found each other. Many thanks to friend and fabulous photographer, Jaime Emery from Rose Street, for 2nd shooting with me!
