• Last year, on Jaz’s last day of kindergarden, I decided to pick her up after school and take her out for ice cream in order to celebrate the end of the school year. Little did I know that I was about to walk into what is one of the coolest(yeah.) Pinewood traditions ~ the summer send off by the teachers! Basically, the buses drive around the circle several times honking and honking their horns, while the kids wave out the window to their teachers who are cheering, and the parents who are weeping, both about another year gone by. The…

  • My little Ember bug graduated from pre-school. I can hardly believe that I now will have 2 school aged children at the same school! I asked Ember if she was a little scared about going to a new school and kindergarden and she said, “no I am ready!”…and she really is! Gotta love that “go get ’em” attitude! She is very excited to be at the same school as her big sister Jazzie! We will truly miss Pinetop Montessori which has been such a fantastic, safe and calm(and local) learning environment for her. The teachers there are fabulous and really…

  • Andrew was celebrating his 18th birthday, his Ponderosa High School graduation AND his Eagle Scout Court of Honor! The ceremony was held at Foothills United Methodist Church, in Cameron Park. Andrew Rosio has been in boy scouts for 12 years and now that he is graduated he will continue on to be an Adult Leader for his troop 550. With months and months of planning from Andrews mother Laura the day went smoothly with out a hitch! It was quite a new experience for me and it was fun shooting this event. Congratulations Andrew! • Brad just received his masters degree in journalism and Amber works for the California State Senate. We went to Sierra Banquet Center – a beautiful new log structure for weddings and events in Camino – for their engagement photos. Amber and Brad are getting married at the Ironstone Vineyards and Winery in Murphys, California in September of this year. They’ve been living away from each other for a while and Brad just moved back, they are looking forward to spending the rest of their lives together. I’m looking forward to photographing their wedding! View your slideshow here.

  • Andrew got in touch with me because he and Travis are friends and I photographed Travis’ senior photos at the end of  last year. He wanted to me to shoot around his home since he has lived there all his life and wanted to remember it in his photographs. Andrew is a senior graduating from El Dorado High School, Class of 2009. He plays tennis and is really good at playing piano. He’s a fun guy and loves to laugh! Best of luck to you Andrew next year and in the coming years! View your slideshow here.

  • David and Beth have been together for 9 years and have been engaged for 1 1/2 years! Beth is an accountant for her family owned business Dixon&Dixon in Pollock Pines and David owns his own small software company. They both love the outdoors and doing outdoor activities such as hiking and kayaking. In fact, the day before their wedding David and his grooms men are going on a kayaking and camping trip to Emerald Bay and coming back early in the morning on the day of the wedding! Not the common bachelors party , but I think it sounds better!…

  • Andrew has been my neighbor since I first moved to Pollock Pines. I’m looking forward to documenting his wedding for his family as well as Molly’s. Molly and Andrew met at Los Hermanos – Andrew was Molly’s boss and we all laughed about how that is about to change! So far, this couple has had to plan their wedding 3 times because they’ve changed their location but have decided to have their wedding in Molly’s fathers backyard for a relaxed wedding. During the shoot I asked them to whisper in each others ears to get a fun shot; afterwards they…

  • Folsom Zoo: “Since 1963, this small unique California zoo has been providing sanctuary to some very special animals. All are non-releasable. Many were raised, and rejected, as wild pets. Others were injured or orphaned in the wild. Most are native to North America. All have names and personalities, and their individual stories are posted at the exhibits, along with factual, up-to-date information about their species. The distinctive educational focus of the zoo promotes responsible and appropriate behavior toward all animals. The zoo teaches about common and uncommon animals, both wild and domestic, and includes those in between, like feral pigs and…

  • Ain’t love grand? Today I was supposed to be updating my website, which I did, sort of. I got side tracked and made a post about my 25th high school reunion(see below) and then started to work on updating my couples section. At the end of the day, I must admit, I am not much of an editor and instead of choosing a few images to use to update my site, I created a slideshow with well, many of my favorites. Here is the slideshow of engagement and anniversary sessions from 2008. Enjoy!

  • So, 25 years ago I graduated from a small boarding school in southern Virginia. Never really thought that I would be back…. I mean ever! At the time, I felt a bit overwhelmed by rules and structure basically wanting neither of the two. In the 80’s, a Grateful Dead concert was more the environment I desired! In 1985(after a year of college, a few less rules and plenty of Dead shows), I approached the headmaster at the time, Jerry Van Voorhis, with my idea to provide graduation photography for the students, families and school community. This is a multi day…

  • This is Nick Seid – a senior graduating from El Dorado High School 2009 . He has been busy visiting potential schools mostly up and down the Pacific Coast. He wants to major in Theater or maybe journalism. Right now Nick is actually the lead in an upcoming spring play drama “MacBeth” put on by El Dorado High School – for times and scheduling go to this link: MacBeth Info. Since Nick is an actor it made it easy for him to pose and look great naturally for the camera! He was a lot of fun to work with.

  • Lauren and Karl were referred to me by my friend Sharon who was referred to me by my friend Renee. I think Renee found one of my flyers at the winery where she worked at the time. Lauren and Karl seemed to be in the spirit of most of my referrals- happy, loving life and ready for anything. I love that! I had not met them prior to meeting at Baker Beach on a day destined for rain. I said to Lauren in advance of the session, “Are you all still good with the beach if it is raining, or…
