This was just one of those weddings. I got a call from Sara about two weeks before the day they planned to marry. We talked extensively about their individual stories and their together stories and the meaning and love surrounding this day. They wanted beautiful photographs captured of their union and wow, what a day it was! Let me be clear, I am a photographer, not a writer. Sara, on the other had- words seem to flow for her, so I’ll keep this brief and let the images do the story telling.
What started as a courthouse wedding in Placerville and small dinner reception in Lake Tahoe turned into one of the most beautiful ceremonies in a meadow in South Lake Tahoe a short walk from Jaeson’s home. With the last minute change, and the need of an officiant, but the right one, I was able to refer my friend and colleague for decades, Corkie Matson. We’ve worked together many times and I think I said to Sara, “if you can get her, book her immediately (since we were down to a week now). You’re going to love her”. And they did.
Sara and Jaeson’s marriage brings together 6 children, 2 with Sara and 4 with Jaeson. I believe there might have been a Brady Bunch reference along the way, too! “It’s the story…”
Surrounded by their children and their significant others, as well as their dear friends, their wooded wedding of about 20 stopped me in my tracks. The joy, the shared smiles, the poignant and deeply moving words they shared made capturing their marriage day unbelievably gratifying. You know when something just “hits” for you exactly when you need it most? Seriously, I had a big smile on my face the whole day. IT. WAS. PERFECT.
Here are a handful of my favorites. Congratulations Sara, Jaeson and the whole Davis-Schultz crew. Getting to capture these images of you two in your blissful joy, still makes me smile.
