  • David has been home schooled his whole life along with his older sister and brother Michelle & Daniel. David is the last of the Carlson kids that I get to photograph senior pictures for. He just graduated this year and plans on going to Folsom Lake for a couple of terms to figure out what he’d like to do in life. I like the way kids use college these days to sort stuff out rather than feel like they have to know what they will do for the rest of their life at eighteen years old. David writes historical fiction…

  • Trevor & Brielle were married at “The House on the Hill”, the home of Brielle’s parents, Irene and Alan in Greenstone. They have all been working very hard since January to get ready for the wedding not to mention a complete home landscaping, patio building and gazebo raising (what doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger…right?) June 19 was a warm and breezy day. We all knew how lucky we were that the temperature was around 80, when it could have so easily been 100+ degrees. My assistant Cassie and my friend Jaime from Rose Street Studio were helping me out…

  • John & Elisha are getting married on July 10, 2010 at the beautiful Fausel Ranch in Placerville, CA. They were referred to me from Gretchen & Matt‘s wedding last August at Fausel last year (apparently they have a groomsman in common). John and Elisha make each other laugh and truly have a zest for enjoying life. John brought along his 13 year old daughter Maddie as well as Trixie, their Pitbull/Boxer mix dog! Trixie and Maddie were fun additions to the shoot not only because of the dogs inate ability to make everyone laugh and feel relaxed but also because…

  • Well, the last day of school has come and gone (again) and summer is now upon us. This year was bitter sweet as we wished many well who were retiring this year from Pinewood Elementary School. I arrived that day with the goal of documenting the last day of one teacher in particular, Charlie Ferris.  Charlie’s teaching career spanned 36 years, 24 of which were teaching kindergarten at Pinewood. It would be easy to underestimate Charlie with his calm demeanor, but as the saying goes: “still waters run deep”.  And it is a good thing given how many of us…

  • Twenty six years photographing graduation at Chatham Hall in Chatham, VA. I really do enjoy going back year after year and getting the opportunity to see the school grow and change while also staying the same. It’s the type of perspective you can only get when you are not there day after day. The campus, always beautiful, the staff and teachers, always friendly and hospitable and the students, always excited to be getting a year older. Hmmmm…it is strange to frequent a place where your “clients” stay the same age, while you do not. Chasing around 17 & 18 year…

  • To my community, my clients, my friends and my family, I want to thank all of you for always showing so much love, for caring about my business (and me) and for always cheering me on. Your response was huge! To run into folks locally on the school playground or at the supermarket, to receive texts from clients interested in the KCRA results over the last two months has blown me away. I am completely humbled by your support. To be voted #3 out of 267 photographers in the greater Sacramento area is humbling as there are so many local…

  • Kim, Vern & their kids all showed up to The Sequoia in a big party bus and basically already had their party started! They were relaxed and easy going. The weather was perfect and everything was going just as planned. The reception room was stunning & the dessert bar was fab! Tawnia at the Sequoia is so great to work with and casually keeps everything in the perfect flow. At one point while I was hunkered down near the floor for a shot, she mentioned that I should wear a reflector stripe in all my black clothing so she could…

  • I photographed Ty and Tina’s wedding back in 2007 – and now look at them! A beautiful, happy, healthy, growing family. I absolutely adore Ty and Tina and their boys couldn’t be any cuter. These two are as in love as ever and it’s always so enjoyable to get to photograph seasoned, comfortable love. Aiden was so sweet in front of the camera… not shy at all. Well, except whenever we called him “Spicy” he’d get bashful and start laughing- it was the cutest thing! Ryland-happy bubbly little guy and super easy in front of the camera. Such an easy…

  • Brianna is going to be a biology major at Northern Arizona State this fall. She graduates from El Dorado High in a few short weeks. I love the late afternoon light at High Hill so we started off there. Brianna was fun and playful with the camera right off the bat. And trust me, the camera loves Brianna! After a few locations around High Hill we took off to another Camino location looking for “some field” also in the late afternoon sun. White dress, beautiful girl, glowing field…I love my job! Congratulations Briana on your upcoming graduation! Click here for…
