  • Ellee and Jonathan – what a couple!  This was not our first wedding with a full-scale Jenga set, but it definitely was the first where the Jenga did double-duty as a guest book!  It was so cool to see how these two incorporated their love of games and good times into their wedding, giving their guests an opportunity to leave a lasting memory on each of the wooden blocks.  But the individual touches didn’t stop there: hand-wrapped car cans with sentimental sayings hung in the lounge, a birch tree bedecked with Marvel Comic heroes directed guests to their seats in the ball room, and…

  • Given their marathon running experience, Jennifer and Tim had no problem navigating snow and ice for their January engagement session.  Our lakeside plans had to be scrapped when we encountered a locked entrance gate, but the snow and light was actually better just around the corner.  Jennifer and Tim had no problem trudging through the deep snow, and with all the slipping and sliding there were pretty of opportunities for genuine smiles and happy laughter!  Jennifer has one of those smiles that just lights up the world, and luckily Tim gives her plenty of opportunities to make good use of…

  • Chelsea and Chava celebrated their wedding on a sunny summer day in August at the Wedgewood Sequoia Mansion – and what a celebration it was!  Between the handmade, personal touches (s’mores trail mix!) and the enthusiastic mariachi band, this was a wedding that was guaranteed to make you smile.  Of course, a bride and groom as completely in love as Chelsea and Chava are doesn’t hurt matters, either!  Chava kept us laughing with his joking ways, and Chelsea’s bridesmaids (who also happened to be her sisters!) kept things light and fun for the bride. Chelsea and Chava shared their how-we-met story…

  • Rarely do we see this level of familiarity in a couple after 1 month of courtship…this depth of love and strength of connection is typically reserved for those brides and grooms with a 6, 7+ year bethrothel! Just kidding!  Hayle and Mason have been a couple for a lot longer than 1 month (since their late teens), so there is certainly no question about their familiarity and love for each other.  They just chose a fine weekend in early June to make it official. Watching these two together, the word “soul mate” comes to mind again and again.  Hayle and Mason…

  • Late summer in the middle of a four year drought and Elaina and Henry’s wedding day was blessed with summer rain, just as my own had been. The difference for Elaina and Henry was the fabulous undercover arches that David Girard Vineyards has and that provided the perfect plan-B ceremony site. That and the cloud cover that came to filter the sun and create beautiful light that we more-than took advantage of during out time together. I loved Elaina’s father’s speech during the reception which was superbly delivered and very moving. Another beautiful touch was that her dad orchestrated a…

  • With canyon view backdrop and accompanied by both a string quartet and family members’ acoustic harmony, Kristin and Jason were married recently in Kristin’s own backyard, the beautiful home of her parents, Richard and Karen, in Placerville. It was a magical day full of joyful people, not least the groom himself, a playful, charismatic who originally hails from New Jersey. Jason and Kristin just love to laugh and they brought everyone along with them, (including two photographers and an assistant) and their wedding party which included Jason’s brother and Kristin’s two close cousins. It’s also wonderful to connect personally with the families I meet; somehow my…

  • Lots of fun and a little bit of friendly competition! That’s how our session with Kristin and Jason was filled. They’ve been together for two years and clearly enjoy playing together on and off the courts. They live in Redondo Beach, where Jason has fun high-fiving people bicycling past. (He says he was practicing his “Calvin Klein look” for this shoot.) Jason works as a motion camera assistant. Kristen is a physical therapist. Her folks have beautiful home in Placerville and that’s where their “big day” will take place. It’s usual to wonder just how the wedding event will go…

  • Cowgirl boots, stetsons and shot guns. Yeehaw, it’s a country wedding for Briggette and Dean, who married recently on a private estate in Rescue, CA. Briggette’s mom, Sharee, was my daughter, Ember’s, first grade teacher and so I  started off with a special connection to this fun-loving couple. Not that I needed it, I quickly found, during our engagement session at Sly Park Lake earlier this year. This couple is relaxed in front of the camera and willing to try anything for a great shot. This came in extra handy as me, my assistant, bride, groom, and groomsmen tore across…

  • Another beautiful wedding at the Wedgewood Sequoia! This time for Sheri and Mike, who tied the knot after 6 years together. Like all brides and grooms, Sheri and Mike were experiencing some “showtime” nerves on their big day and I was grateful to have spent some time with them during their engagement session to learn more about what makes them laugh and relax in front of the camera. I also confess to having had a little extra help from Mike’s fifteen year old daughter, Cassie, who was also part of the wedding party. This was just a bright, fun, and…
