Ahhh, what a wonderful family to photograph right here in my own back yard. The Lockwoods have emerged from a tough year where mom, Renee, was very sick for an extended period last year. Illness can take such a toll on relationships but I could tell that everyone was in a place of gratitude, celebrating Renee’s recovery and the gift of time together. I just love it when friends and clients refer me to families who are a perfect fit for my personality and photography style! Congratulations to El Dorado High school  senior, Jakob, who I photographed at Larsen’s Apple Barn in Camino recently. Senior year. The big finale. Jakob is crazy about soccer (as you can see from his images) and he plays for Ethos Academy, which is an affiliate team for the San Jose Earthquakes.  You could see him really come alive as he practiced with the soccer ball. Ahhh… the miracle of a birth. I always feel so incredibly honored to be a part of welcoming a child into the world and into a family.  There is so much unknown around the event – when exactly it will happen and how it will go – that when that tiny little ball of pink flesh arrives, it feels at once almost impossible and yet entirely natural.   Michele and Michael’s nuptuals took place in a beautiful private residence in Somerset, CA. The home belongs to Rick and Janice Wickham, who were Michele’s parents growing up through kinship care. They occasionally host weddings on the grounds for friends and family and I had actually shot a wedding there several years before for Miranda and Brian, which is how Michele and Michael came to know me. So many lovely touches to this wedding too. Michael’s father created a wooden “Happily Ever After” sign that hung near the ceremony site. Derek is a good friend of a good friend of mine, Ross, and he got in touch with me recently to capture some head shots. Although this hasn’t been something I have done a lot of in the past, I love to see how my style translates to new session types and so jumped at the chance.   As children get older, develop their own lives, friends, and activities, it gets harder and harder to get everyone in a family together as one unit. When this rare occurrence happens, it’s something to be celebrated. Which is why, when mom, Cindy, found herself with all three daughters at home at one time, she decided to move into action and schedule a photo session.   After capturing baby Nyron at birth and again shortly after he arrived home, it was wonderful to catch-up with him and his wonderful mom and dad, Kailey and Matt, in Coloma recently. Nyron is such a happy, smiley baby and his parents adore him but kids don’t always perform on-cue, do they? It was a warm afternoon down by the river in Coloma and baby Nyron was not impressed by the heat or the sun. Smiles quickly turned to grimaces, joy to irritation.
