  • Lots of fun and a little bit of friendly competition! That’s how our session with Kristin and Jason was filled. They’ve been together for two years and clearly enjoy playing together on and off the courts. They live in Redondo Beach, where Jason has fun high-fiving people bicycling past. (He says he was practicing his “Calvin Klein look” for this shoot.) Jason works as a motion camera assistant. Kristen is a physical therapist. Her folks have beautiful home in Placerville and that’s where their “big day” will take place. It’s usual to wonder just how the wedding event will go…

  • Keith and Leslie are expecting their fourth child in June. This time they decided not to find out if they would be having a boy or girl. Since they already have one or more of each – Steve (7), Miles (4) and Aubriella (2) – this one’s all about the surprise. Although four children might sound like a lot of work, I can see why this couple enjoys a larger family; they simply take it all in their stride. Inevitably kids will wander in and around during the session while you’re focused on other family members. Yet,  I was amazed…

  • What a fantastically fun way to close out the year! My last wedding of 2013 was for Jill and Matthew, who were blessed with a beautiful blue-sky day at the Wedgewood Sequoia. I knew that this couple and I would be a perfect match when Jill sent me this email earlier in the year: “”Both my fiancé and I loved how your photography was really about the couple. Other photographers often made nice or artsy pictures that didn’t seem to be about the people.”  That is absolutely what I’m all about – emotions, moments, relationships and, of course, beautiful light.…

  • As a photographer who loves to capture the emotional story of life’s milestones, you can’t get anything more significant or emotional than photographing a birth. From the effort of mom to bring her baby into the world, to the loving support of family, and capturing the first moments as baby meets it’s new world… it’s truly a magical time. Which is why I was honored to have the opportunity to tell the story of Stevie-Lynn’s birth. Mom, Amanda, has watched my children numerous times. She is also a photographer and I knew how much she would appreciate the documentation of…

  • Just loving Brenda and Steven’s romantic, winter wedding at the Sequoia in Placerville. Winter at the Sequoia means I can pull out the flash and get creative outside. The backdrop of the beautiful house, its columns and angles, makes a wonderful setting for romantic and dramatically-lit portraits! This easy-going and fun-loving couple wanted some simple coverage, beginning with their sunset ceremony in the Veranda Room and ending during their reception. Live Mariachi music from “Nuevo Mexicali” set the tone for Brenda, Steven, their family and friends during cocktail hour and part of the reception – I so enjoy the spontaneous…

  • Karin and Amy were referred to me by my good friends, Dorit and Mark (friends of the bride and bride and also bartenders at this event – check them out in their German costumes in this post!) Referrals are the mainstay of my business and I love the folks I get to work with when I get them. When Karin and Amy  told me their wedding would be held in Coloma by the river, I just knew we would be the perfect match. And this was definitely one of those weddings with many memorable details. Their ceremony was in the…

  • Loved this intimate and romantic November wedding at the Wedgewood Sequoia. The day began with a prayer for the bride and groom, Carol and Michael, led by Pastor, Tim  Baker. Carol and Michael held hands on either side of a partially closed door as they listened, not wanting to see one another before the ceremony but still wanting that moment of connection before they walked the aisle as separate people for the last time. (So sweet.) A group of around 30 friends and family were waiting on the beautiful Sequoia patio, to cheer them on. Meanwhile, Carol’s daughters, Sara and…

  • Photographing brides and grooms at the Wedgewood Sequoia as their preferred photographer, I get to see so many different ways to use the beautiful house for ceremonies and receptions. For Heather and Nick, they forewent a courtyard ceremony for indoor nuptials, set against a backdrop of twinkling fairy lights. Along with Nick’s all-white tux, it made for a bright-and-beautiful ensemble. Lots of memorable moments at this wedding: from the blessing Nick’s parents gave him before the ceremony, to an emotional mother-daughter dance, and finally one of the most wonderful speeches by Nick’s parents I’ve heard in a while: I loved…
