What a beautiful day this was for Team JV. Not only did Josh and Veronica tie the knot, surrounded by dear family and friends, they did it their way. It could have easily been 100+ degrees at this Sacramento venue, Black Oak Estates but it wasn’t. It was a sweet 80 degrees with a big blue sky and puffy clouds. Mike had lost his wife two years earlier and Cate was newly single. Mike had a low boarding number and ended up in the very back of the plane in the middle seat next to Catherine. Cate was returning to Sacramento on a work trip as Mike was headed to visit a friend in Coeur d’Alene; he chose the long route with a stop in Sac so he could politely arrive right when the friend got off work. After enjoying a very snowy engagement session with Melissa and Josh earlier this year, I got to know them a little better. I love engagement sessions for that reason- it gives the opportunity, outside of a busy wedding day for a couple to get to know me and how I work and I get to know them, individually and also how they interact as a couple. I first met Alyse and Ryan at an engagement session in a lupine field in Folsom. Not a bad place to spend the early evening getting to know one another. In fact, highly recommended. Jaymie and Brennan married on a gorgeous fall day at the Lake Natoma Inn in Folsom, on their outdoor patio, surrounded by close family and friends and the gorgeous florals from my old friend, Dottie(Couture Weddings by Dottie) and team, Cocomont Styling. The Inn at Park Winters has a rich history. This farm has been here since 1854, when George Washington Scott, one of the first American settlers in what is now Yolo County, bought it after crossing the plains (a six-month trip!). There were so many fun options for making really creative and unique portraits of these two fine ladies.

There was just something special about this wedding that it was hard to put your finger on. Was it the buzz of eager anticipation in the air? Was it the warm, genuine hugs from the family and friends that flooded in with broad smiles on their faces? The constant soundtrack of laughter that enveloped you everywhere you went? Or was it just Emily and Shannon, who seem to have touched so many people with their generosity of spirit and sweet love story?

Just as the sun was setting, Stephanie and Aaron exchanged their vows at the beautiful Wine and Roses in Lodi in a romantic twinkle light ceremony, sprinkled with lots of laughter and officiated by cousin Blaine.
