A-WEDDING LOCATIONS- Foothills

  • Just loving Brenda and Steven’s romantic, winter wedding at the Sequoia in Placerville. Winter at the Sequoia means I can pull out the flash and get creative outside. The backdrop of the beautiful house, its columns and angles, makes a wonderful setting for romantic and dramatically-lit portraits! This easy-going and fun-loving couple wanted some simple coverage, beginning with their sunset ceremony in the Veranda Room and ending during their reception. Live Mariachi music from “Nuevo Mexicali” set the tone for Brenda, Steven, their family and friends during cocktail hour and part of the reception – I so enjoy the spontaneous…

  • Loved this intimate and romantic November wedding at the Wedgewood Sequoia. The day began with a prayer for the bride and groom, Carol and Michael, led by Pastor, Tim  Baker. Carol and Michael held hands on either side of a partially closed door as they listened, not wanting to see one another before the ceremony but still wanting that moment of connection before they walked the aisle as separate people for the last time. (So sweet.) A group of around 30 friends and family were waiting on the beautiful Sequoia patio, to cheer them on. Meanwhile, Carol’s daughters, Sara and…

  • Photographing brides and grooms at the Wedgewood Sequoia as their preferred photographer, I get to see so many different ways to use the beautiful house for ceremonies and receptions. For Heather and Nick, they forewent a courtyard ceremony for indoor nuptials, set against a backdrop of twinkling fairy lights. Along with Nick’s all-white tux, it made for a bright-and-beautiful ensemble. Lots of memorable moments at this wedding: from the blessing Nick’s parents gave him before the ceremony, to an emotional mother-daughter dance, and finally one of the most wonderful speeches by Nick’s parents I’ve heard in a while: I loved…

  • Another beautiful wedding at the Wedgewood Sequoia, on a beautiful early-Fall day. This time we celebrated Cortney and Sean, a wonderful, easy-going couple who wanted their wedding day to be “a great party” for family and friends. They certainly delivered. The flower girls at this wedding were just so sweet and so dedicated to their task of littering the aisle with rose petals before Cortney arrived with her brother, Jason, who gave her away. After the ceremony we took some time to take a few “just married” photos before heading into the reception where Sean, who is a singer/songwriter, surprised Cortney…

  • Wow. What a spectacular venue for Madelyn and Justin! Loved this easy-going couple and the breathtaking hilltop backdrop of David Girard Vineyards in Placerville. One of the many wonderful things about this wedding was the relaxed timeline they had created for themselves and our photography. Building in plenty of time to get from one ‘event’ to the next and have cushion to appreciate the special moments can be the difference between a stressed-out wedding party and one that is relaxed and having a fantastic time. This was definitely a wedding of the latter. And having time helps us photographers too.…

  • As the preferred photographer for Wedgewood event centers, I get to photograph brides and grooms at the Sequoia Wedding and Banquet Center quite a lot and I love it. The old-world charm of the white, Victorian home is the perfect backdrop for a ceremony and bridal portraits. But for Christine and Gary, they really wanted a more “garden like” feel for their nuptuals, and so they took advantage of the Wedgewood’s partnership with the gorgeous Seasons Bed & Breakfast (just around the corner) to exchange their vows and then made the short drive to Sequoia for their reception. It’s the perfect combination: colorful…

  • Another beautiful wedding at the Wedgewood Sequoia! This time for Sheri and Mike, who tied the knot after 6 years together. Like all brides and grooms, Sheri and Mike were experiencing some “showtime” nerves on their big day and I was grateful to have spent some time with them during their engagement session to learn more about what makes them laugh and relax in front of the camera. I also confess to having had a little extra help from Mike’s fifteen year old daughter, Cassie, who was also part of the wedding party. This was just a bright, fun, and…

  • This was such a beautiful wedding for Jean and Bruce, who married recently at the Wedgewood Sequoia in Placerville. Their wedding brought together two families of different cultures, and the bride’s three children, Miguel, Paolo, and Alaina, who all took part in the wedding. The day began with Jean getting ready at the lovely Seasons Bed and Breakfast which is a gorgeous, remodeled historic house furnished with 18th century European furniture, and surrounded by beautiful porches and gardens –  a photographer’s candy store! The patio and gazebo were also the perfect setting for the couple’s “First Look”. Jean and Bruce are such…

  • The Fausel Family are near-and-dear to my hearts not least because I have had the privilege of photographing many amazing weddings at their ranch in the past few years. Fausel Ranch is simply one of the most beautiful and friendly wedding locations to work at in El Dorado County and, through those weddings, I have had the honor of becoming a friend of the Fausel family. In addition to photographing two Fausel family weddings (check out Mark + Sharlot and Albert + Melissa) in the past, Deanna and David have been kind enough to refer numerous other close family and friends to…
