May in Tahoe and the weather forecast was uncertain. Snow had just fallen on the mountain peaks and the wind was, shall we say, brisk. On Friday, gray clouds crested over the hill and the outlook on my assistant’s weather app was for rain right at the moment we were due to be standing in the middle of Squaw Valley’s famous meadow with our bride and groom. We checked our umbrella inventory and made contingency plans.
10 years ago, Chuck was listed as one of the top 10 most eligible bachelors in Sacramento Magazine (as was mentioned quietly to me when I inquired how they met). Then Chuck met Julie. On a perfect, breezy day on the North Shore, Chuck and Julie had a sweet, quaint wedding at the gorgeous backdrop of Christy Hill Resturant in Tahoe City. Fun-loving, light-hearted, they gathered their friends and family with lots of good food and joking around. What a great way to commemorate starting married life together! Julie and Chuck are active and like to bike and run together. They share a…
Their wedding definitely reflected their personalities and their sense of humor and aesthetic. Their wedding invitation said, “Dinner, drinks and awkward dancing to follow.” The theme colors red and turquoise figured prominently, giving me great contrast and super-saturated hues to play with. Check out the wedding party’s shoes!
Ilyce is a triathlete and Pete is a runner. They met at the New York City Marathon in 2009 and were dating less than a year later. After Pete proposed at their home in San Francisco last November, they immediately decided on a destination wedding so that their friends could take time to enjoy the local area as well as the wedding celebrations. Northstar at Tahoe on a beautiful, clear-blue-sky summer day was the perfect location, and I was lucky enough, as Northstar’s preferred photographer, to be chosen to capture their special day. Ilyce and Pete began their day with…
Kim and Sean love anything outdoors so Truckee, with its proximity to many gorgeous locations, was the perfect location choice for them. From their family Donner vacation home to the Assumption Catholic Church, to Donner Lake and then to Tahoe Donner Lodge- we pretty much hit it all! So many beautiful moments at this wedding. Clearly Kim and Sean have found each other. Many thanks to friend and fabulous photographer, Jaime Emery from Rose Street, for 2nd shooting with me! Kate and Aaron’s wedding started on a most beautiful Lake Tahoe day. I left Pollock Pines for the fresh aired fall drive along the river and then around the east side of the lake to arrive at Northstar several hours early to check out shooting locations and make a plan for the day! I met Aaron in the Northstar Village. He claimed that he couldn’t smile on command, but I think the fact that two of his three sisters were there to make him laugh helped to remedy that. Kate got ready in a suite with all the other girls…
I first met Sarah and Etan on the Pier behind Tahoe Tavern Properties where they and the rest of their group were staying for their Lake Tahoe destination wedding. They were from New York and had arrived at Lake Tahoe earlier that week. Sarah made her beautiful dress for the day, along with the handkerchiefs that Etan, and her father carried for the day. The ceremony and celebrations took place at the Christy Hill Restaurant overlooking the lake in Tahoe City. During their ceremony they took the time to mention by name every person that was there, and thanked them…
When I first arrived at the Forest House Lodge for Sumer and Jason’s wedding, I almost instantly fell in love. Everywhere I turned there were these amazing spots that a photographer would dream to work in. And the groom, as a photographer himself, I’m sure picked the Forest House Lodge for this among many reasons for their big day. The Forest House helps to create an atmosphere of a destination wedding by only booking their venue for a minimum of 28 hours. Every that was there, was there for this wedding and every staff member was there to make sure…
