• My friend Kelly and I have been talking about her daughter, Whitney’s, senior pictures for a while now and with spring in full bloom, it seemed like the perfect time.  Whitney is looking forward to starting college at Folsom Lake in the fall and then continuing on to a nursing program. We had a fun time wandering around Boeger Winery in the late afternoon light, and she even brought her friend Ashley along “to keep it real”. When I asked her if she had a boyfriend in order to elicit an expression, she made one up and came up with the…

  • Jane is getting ready to head to Berkeley in the fall, and her parents wanted to make sure that not only did we capture some memories of their daughter at this important time in her life, but also some photographs of her at her piano. I really enjoy incorporating activities that are important to a senior into their session. Jane has been playing for years and it has truly become a passion for her. A few years ago I photographed her brother, Karl as he was heading off to college and I am so glad they asked me back to…

  • I’m always a bit nervous going into a wedding having not done an engagement session, or worked with the couple prior to the wedding, but I have to say that all of that went out the window the moment I met up with Kate in her suite. Kate and Josh were so much fun to work with! Totally in love. Ready to be married and Josh was so enamored with Kate- it was clearly visible the entire day. The day had a wonderful ease about it – just the idea that whatever happened would be perfect -and it was. The…

  • Melissa and Eric are expecting little Joscilyn any day now. In fact, I just tried to call Melissa to see how she was doing and her mailbox was full… hmmm…..sounds suspicious- I can almost hear that first cry to the world! Thankfully the weather finally cleared up long enough for us to squeeze in a maternity shoot for them before she arrived. Their only request for the session was a field, and thankfully I knew a family kind enough to let us borrow theirs for the afternoon.  They brought along their new puppy, Ari Gold, for the shoot, who seemed…

  • One of my favorite images is of a high school senior playing a drum(djembe) out in a field at sunset, long hair-a-flying! This was Megan’s brother Travis a few years back. Fast forward to Megan- what a beauty! Megan will graduate soon from El Dorado High, and very much looking forward to heading off to UC Santa Cruz in the fall. I’m a bit jealous of the fact that she is going to be spending a month after she graduates just traveling around Europe as I love to see (and photograph) new things…just call me if you need your own…

  • Kate and Evan first met here at Sly Park Lake, so of course it was the perfect place for their engagement session. They were both hired on a few years ago for the summer. He was in college, she was going off to college, so she asked him for any advice he could give and the rest is history. I’m looking forward to their Sierra Banquet Center wedding in early May as I have not yet photographed a wedding there. Dottie from Camino Flower Shop will be doing flowers too! I love how engagement sessions give me a chance to…

  • Thank you to the Haus family for having me down to their home in Pleasant Valley to capture their family in photographs. Their boys were so sweet and did such a great job on the shoot, especially given the length of it. As a photographer, you just have to keep the kids moving around. We spent some time by the creek, by the neighbors daffodils and out in this great field as the sun went down. Enjoy your slide show!

  • I was so happy when Judy called me up and asked me if I would take her daughter’s senior photographs. Judy and I have worked together a bunch over the last several years as she is the wedding coordinator at David Girard Vineyards. Judy and the staff at DGV are fun and fabulous to work with if you have a wedding in your future! I was truly honored that she asked me to do this for her. Judy told me that I would enjoy Lainey and she was right. A snowboarder, Lainey seemed happy to go along for the ride.…

  • You have to be careful when you live in Pollock Pines, and spring hits and you still leave the house wearing fleece and long sleeves. Don’t go down the hill dressed like that- you will burn up. Even in Camino at the Apple Mountain Golf Course it was very warm when I met Hayden for his senior shoot. I hadn’t seen Hayden since his family had family photographs a couple years ago and I didn’t even recognize him. A lot can change in a couple years which is why I am so often reminded how important it is to capture…

  • “A wet knot is harder to untie than a dry knot”….and this is the ol’ proverb that is supposed to provide solace when it dumps on your wedding day. It dumped on my wedding day too and to this day, the wet weather will always bring back fond memories of the best day of my life: wet bride, lucky bride- I’m a firm believer! Karen and Dave’s wedding day was no exception. After meeting on Match.com and Karen, needing a little nudging from Dave to go out on their first date, they finally tied the knot in some of the…

  • This all day, beginning-intermediate workshop will be taught by Lisa Richmond on April 10 in Camino, CA and hosted by Kim and Bob Little. There are a few spaces still left. My goal is to keep this workshop small for more one on one with each student. The workshop includes a 50 page workbook and the time will be divided between in the classroom and out in the field practicing what is being learned using “people” as models. Field time will include both observation and “hands on” experience setting up shots, and using drills to practice your camera settings. Images…
