  • As I sit here at a friends home in Camino, using their power and internet connection, it is hard to believe that just last week was lovely fall weather. Kristina and her mother met me at Boeger for Kristina’s senior photograph shoot. Looking back, it was one of the last days of fall. I’m glad we got out when we did! Enjoy your blog teaser and slideshow, all of your proofs will be up soon! Here is your slideshow!

  • If you’ve had the chance to work with me in the past two years then you probably remember my former assistant, Cassie. Meet Miranda, Cassie’s younger sister. I took Cassie’s senior portraits a few years back, and then their brother Zac’s a year or so before that and now it was Miranda’s turn.  We met at Boeger Winery right before the sun started to go down. I took advantage of the fact that I worked with her sister and asked Miranda how she and her sister are different. Her first response was “I’m smarter” which just cracked me up- gotta…

  • It was a beautiful day at Boeger Winery when we met up with Andrew for his senior session. Andrew is a guitar player, and brought his guitar along for the shoot.  Not only did it serve as a great prop throughout the shoot, but it made for a fantastic atmosphere to work in – the rolling hills of the vineyard, beautiful evening light, and gentle music played by Andrew himself – not a bad way to enjoy sunset, I’d say! My “past life” included about 15 years as both a live and recording studio engineer and I have great affection…

  • David has been home schooled his whole life along with his older sister and brother Michelle & Daniel. David is the last of the Carlson kids that I get to photograph senior pictures for. He just graduated this year and plans on going to Folsom Lake for a couple of terms to figure out what he’d like to do in life. I like the way kids use college these days to sort stuff out rather than feel like they have to know what they will do for the rest of their life at eighteen years old. David writes historical fiction…

  • Brianna is going to be a biology major at Northern Arizona State this fall. She graduates from El Dorado High in a few short weeks. I love the late afternoon light at High Hill so we started off there. Brianna was fun and playful with the camera right off the bat. And trust me, the camera loves Brianna! After a few locations around High Hill we took off to another Camino location looking for “some field” also in the late afternoon sun. White dress, beautiful girl, glowing field…I love my job! Congratulations Briana on your upcoming graduation! Click here for…

  • It was such a pretty day at High Hill Ranch in Camino for a shoot! Kayla & her mother arrived and Kayla said she had a hard time deciding what to wear. I asked if she brought other options to choose from… and she did… she brought plenty – so many outfits that she and her mom were joking about considering a short trip after the shoot given the size of the suitcase! She also brought a volley ball & her snowboard- which I love adding into senior photographs! High Hill had great, great  light that day. Kayla’s mom even…

  • Kalene is Graduating! Kalene was so excited for her senior shoot and so were Cassie and I… because Kalene is my other assistant when Cassie is unavailable ! It was really fun & easy to work with someone who not only is so beautiful but that also knew the flow of a shoot and knew us well too. Kalene wanted to go to the Consumnes river for her session, and we found a bunch of great spots including a cool bridge. Congratulations on your upcoming graduation Kalene! Here is your slide show!

  • Ah yes Sierra at Tahoe…Days like this, you sit back, take a deep breath of fresh air and exclaim, “I love my job”! I can usually do these Sierra shoots without an assistant, mostly because the blanket of snow is an amazingly efficient photographic reflector. This time however, my husband Jeff joined us to help carry my gear- my own personal(and cute) sherpa! (I think even HE loved my job that day :))  Late February I injured my shoulder in a ski accident and have been rehabilitating it ever since. I thought it was smart not to totally push it…

  • Meet Hailey- She is graduating from El Dorado High this spring. When I suggested the river as a backdrop for her senior photos, she said “perfect”- I knew I would like her! Shooting with seniors is alot of fun for me- they are so open and willing to experiment and Hailey was no exception. As an artist, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t- but it is in the finding out that makes it all worth it. At one point I asked Hailey as I was working composing a shot, “What are you thinking about?” and in a perfect high…
