One of my most favorite things to do is reconnect with my wedding couples in order to capture their growing families. After Katrina and Joe’s wedding(maybe 6 years ago?), I actually had the honor to be at little Casey’s birth. Well, with the Sac traffic, about 2 minutes after it, to be exact. I met Mariah, Charlie and their son Wyatt over a year ago at a coffee shop in Camino. I really enjoyed them because they were real. I know that sounds trite but honesty and joy that shines through is so refreshing and so much fun to capture as a photographer. Sierra and Cory were married on a beautiful May day in a small ceremony at the stunning Eden Vale Inn. The wildflowers were in bloom, the bright blue sky full of puffy white clouds and a small group of close family and friends were gathered in attendance. There were lots of unique touches created by Cory for this day like the lovely, handcrafted ring box and the wagon for their flower girl. Jessica and Peter, together with their son Oliver, exchanged their vows on a hillside amongst the chardonnay vines at Windwalker Vineyards in Fairplay. Supported by Jessi’s sister, Sarah and Peter’s sister, Ashley, they expressed their deep love for each other and for their future with their little family. You can tell, by the way they look at each other and further by the way they supported each other throughout the day both as bride and groom and as parents of their son, Oliver, their vows were simply just a validation of a connection that had long been solidified.   Sessions like this make my heart sing. Sierra and Cory, a happy couple with warm personalities and very much in love, scooped up me and my camera, in their Tacoma, hoping for aspens still in bloom but ready for any old up country adventure. Free creatively, washes of sunshine color, open to discovery and landscape for miles. This is what we found. Who’s up next?  

When I first met Jennifer and Tim it was winter and we were trekking through three feet of snow along the south side of Jenkinson Lake, chasing the light during their engagement session.  I wasn’t worried about them at all, as they are both runners and into outdoor activities. Adventurous and active couples are my favorite. For their summer wedding, Brianna and Dave transformed the elegant Sequoia Mansion into a nautically-inspired dream!  The best part about it was that the couple made many of the beautiful decorations themselves, which gave their special day a heartfelt and authentic touch.  Creating your own decor is a tall order for any bride and groom, but was made even more impressive by the fact that they pulled it off long distance from their home in Alaska!  Honestly Brianna, I truly think you have a future in wedding and event staging.  Your eye for detail and composition is nothing short of stunning! When I met Jennifer and Abner photographing their engagement, I knew their wedding was going to be special. Jen and Abner, share a strong and playful love and I felt privileged to be invited to witness their vows.  They are each other’s rocks, they are soulmates, and they are a perfect match.  It’s no surprise that their summer wedding at the Sequoia Mansion was a great day! Ashlie and Jay may have tied the knot a year ago, but waited until a beautiful summer evening in the El Dorado Hills before making it official in front of their friends and family.  And who could blame them?  The Serrano Country Club provided a beautiful setting for their stunning sunset reception.  Ashlie’s mother in law helped plan an evening that was equal parts warm, personal, intimate, and elegant.  For this beautiful couple it was all about the fellowship, food, fun and – luckily for me – photography!  I love it when my couples want to get the absolute most…
