Engagement sessions are definitely the best way to get in front of the camera before your wedding day. For me, I get to spend some time getting to know more about the couple and what their connection is with each other, all prior to their big day. For the couple, they get to know me and a little bit about how I work while spending some time in front of the camera. Wedding days can be full of nerves and I find it is so great for us to all have worked together in a more relaxed situation. They know…
They were so easy to photograph and it made me wonder if engaged to “already be married” sessions provide just that extra nudge of comfortability with each other.
Lindey and Adam got engaged a few months ago at Razor Point on the Torrey Pines Trail in Southern California. While they are excited about planning their future wedding, they are currently focusing their energies on buying their first home together which as we all know in Northern California, isn’t a walk in the park. At least they got to enjoy this one.
Sure, being surrounded in the lupine super bloom is pure magic, but as I came to find out, after meeting Alyse and Ryan for the first time, so are their energies, both with each other and with the pure sweetness they put out into the world. Our hour long session turned into a several as they chased the light around Folsom Lake with me while we carefully navigated the lupine. Not initially planning an engagement session, nor a wedding during covid, we were able to shift some wedding time into engagement time as their larger wedding required some scaling back,…
I’ve had the pleasure of photographing the O’rilley kids for years, while simultaneously providing tissues to Trisa as she watched each of her ‘not babies anymore’ approach their high school graduation.
When Megan contacted me about her upcoming marriage to Avery I was so excited. Not only for her, not only for Avery and not only for me (as I was obviously hoping to be asked to photograph the celebration). I was so excited for the joy that this occasion would no doubt be bringing her family, his family, their families. That made me happy. I’ve been friends with the Byers family for years and got to capture both Megan’s and Travis’s high school senior photographs. It’s connections like these that make the experience of photographing a wedding that much more…
It’s doesn’t take long to feel the chemistry between Bradley and Laura. They are easy going. They are fun and funny, often silly and so obviously enamored with each other. Oh, AND really kind people. From our first phone call where they honored me with the words, “You are our first choice – let’s book this”, to meeting up with them in Pollock Pines recently for an up-country engagement session – these are the couples that wedding photographers’ dream of. I am certain their wedding will be flowing freely in the “love department” where 200-250 close friends and family will be…
Stephanie and Aaron drove up from San Jose for their engagement session up in high country. Little did Aaron know that he was just up this way the previous weekend when he was 4-wheeling with his friends out past Loon Lake. I enjoyed meeting Stephanie and Aaron outside of their wedding day. It’s great to get to know my wedding couples through a photo session prior to their wedding day. It helps me to better understand their connection so when the big day arrives, I know what is natural and what is comfortable for them, in order to capture them…
