We chatted about Leslie’s plan for a fake first look for Dan with their friend Trevor who was all dolled up as a bride. Let’s just say, Dan was very surprised as he shined that big smile knowing that she got him and he fell right into it. Then, when Leslie finally arrived behind Dan for their first look, these two were ready to get married.

After enjoying a very snowy engagement session with Melissa and Josh earlier this year, I got to know them a little better. I love engagement sessions for that reason- it gives the opportunity, outside of a busy wedding day for a couple to get to know me and how I work and I get to know them, individually and also how they interact as a couple. This information can be priceless, especially on a day when everything doesn’t go exactly as planned. Little did we know at the time that their wedding day would bring in more weather, this time…

These two… There’s so much love and excitement in the air around Megan and Ryan and the sweet love they share makes me smile. They found it- they found each other. I look forward to photographing their wedding this October at The Davies Family Inn at ShadowRidge Ranch. Over the last 15 years, I’ve enjoyed capturing many of the O’Rilley milestones including family photos,  a wedding, and even all their graduation photos. Back in January of this year I first met Erica and James at their engagement session. Due to James’ upcoming deployment to the Middle East, they decided to switch things up a bit. First was the elopement, then the courthouse wedding, then the engagement session, then the big celebration with all their family and friends and now a little extra bit of good news…their newest celebration- arriving in March of 2022. I can tell you who liked being the center of attention, the singer from the awesome mariachi band that played both at the church and at the cocktail hour. They were sooo fun!

High on a hill, with rows of vines shimmering in diffused light and gently sloping southeast, Elena and Josh exchanged vows at the home of Elena’s parents, Tim and Karen Jolly, owners of a beautiful vineyard and farm, WindRush. Out in the mid-day sun of a vineyard, this exposed location could have sent us photographers seeking shade to find the most flattering light, but not today. The clouds softened the light before it hit the ground all day long while we hit the ground running to capture their wedding day. Avoiding a forecasted rain, there was just a slight hint…

I first met Alyse and Ryan at an engagement session in a lupine field in Folsom. Not a bad place to spend the early evening getting to know one another. In fact, highly recommended. The two of them are super easygoing and just about as kind as they come. Alyse’s mom, Elaine referred me to them and I was glad that they asked me to capture this milestone in their lives. High School sweethearts and “friends first”, Nick and Anja got married 10 years after they first started dating. The history of ten years of dating made for alot of storytelling (and great expressions) during the toasts- lots of laughing. And that’s the way it was all day….they were surrounded in joy, warmth and the “love of life” vibe of friends and family.

Alyson and Frankie were ready to marry and decided to keep it small in order to do so.  Micro-wedding’s are becoming quite popular in these Covid days and I have to say- I love them as there is so much more focus on the couple and on the ceremony. Alyson and Frankie exchanged vows at the beautiful Newcastle Wedding Gardens & Red Horse Barn. Whoever ordered up that fabulous day in January- thank you.
