• Written by Kim Little, Principal of Pinewood Elementary Last spring, the Pinewood Elementary Parent Teacher Club set out a find an artist willing to brighten the Pollock Pines campus with a custom painted agility trail.  One parent quickly connected the school with Debra Power. Power, a retired science teacher from the El Dorado High School District now spends much of her energy on her passion of art and painting. To the schools delight, Debra agreed to make the group’s vision a reality, plus much more.  After a first walkthrough and meeting, Debra proposed more ideas to beautify the small school…

  • There is something about Juliana and her quiet beauty…inside, outside and all around her. This was just one of those sessions…and while I know it will be better for all of us with some rain to clear that smoke from our air, that soft lightbox of sunlight created by the smoke made for some spectacular light. I can’t think of a more lovely young lady that I would like to spend it with (well, other than my daughter, Ember who has been helping me out in the field). Juliana graduates this May from Virtual Academy and has a love for…

  • I’ve literally been photographing Graydon since he was born. This year’s session was mostly about play and action as that is what this eight year old, ALL BOY is about. But don’t let my ALL BOY declaration fool you because the relationship he has with his dad, Tom is super loving and super sweet- there is so much present love between them. I enjoy getting to spend time with these two each year. For the future, Graydon looks forward to everyone getting to the other side of COVID 19 so that he can be playing soccer again on a team…

  • Luke and Amanda didn’t let Covid 19 squash their plans to get married after 10 sweet years of courting. What was supposed to be a wedding on Maui turned into a beautiful Placerville backyard wedding with about 25 or 30 of their closest friends and family. This trend in micro-weddings may change the way weddings are looked at from now on. All the focus was on the couple and every detail was beautiful not only making it a year Luke and Amanda won’t forget but a day too. Many thanks to Jerri who used to work with me for connecting…

  • Can you imagine? The Neto family has been on a wild ride, which Marika called “an adventure, for sure”. I am sure these years have been riddled with countless bouts of stress and anxiety. Marika and Virgilio lost their home in 2017 to the Tubbs fire, and lived in their garage. Their family of three bought an RV and lived in it until they could move back onto the property after it was cleared. Then, two years later in 2019 they ran from their home, leaving their RV on the property as they were evacuated from the Kincade fire. This…

  • Ember Soleil. Born in 2004, during a fire. My sunshine. Caring, huge heart, empathetic, intelligent, creative, gentle, sensitive, kind, generous, cat lover, quiet in general but outspoken as required, righteous. Love this kid.

  • Mary Jo and Tom Anderson(Reed’s parents) recently asked me over to capture their family while all of their grandkids were in town. To be cautious, they moved into their pool house while their daughter and family quarantined in the main house upon arrival from the east coast.

  • Ethan recently graduated from Vista Del Lago High School in Folsom playing on their soccer team. He was referred to me from another Vista Del Lago soccer family. He is another one of those 2020 graduates that had the carpet swiped out from under their feet this spring and the soccer season too. But like many of the grads I’ve met this year, while disappointed, they are all taking it in stride. What can you do?

  • On a cool but sun-splashed day, and on the 19th wedding anniversary of Kristen and Eric, my daughter/assistant Jaz and I met the Haus family upcountry to capture some family photos. The last time I got to capture the Haus family was back in 2011.

Alot happens in nine years even separate from the nine additional wedding anniversaries.

  • Everyone knows the Fausel family. Whether it’s their delicious peaches or cherries you await every year(and my mouths watering just thinking about them), or the Placerville Hardware store located on Main Street in a structure dating back to 1850, before the city of Placerville existed, or if you celebrated your wedding day on their gorgeous ranch, if you are local, you’ve likely met someone related to the Fausel family.
