Weddings

  • Backyard weddings can be a lot of work but they also can be that perfectly small, intimate vibe that you are looking for. Add in a whole lot of elbow grease, the love and support of family and friends, and an extraordinary designing, planning and styling team (Elysse Goerss, Blessings From the Moon Events Co,) and you have yourself a gorgeous celebration right in your own backyard. That said, June 17, 2023 was a very hot day in El Dorado. The sun was strong and bright and shade was hard to find. Donna started out at an Air BnB in…

  • Who doesn’t love a wedding reception that spontaneously erupts into a conga line? Add in some wedding favors of stick-on mustaches and royalty hats- oh, yes, please- sign me up. Apparently, this is also Van Erden Thanksgiving tradition and the energy was celebratory and perfect – just the kind of impulsive fun I believe Erik and Ashlie were looking for to seal the deal. They were also looking for a beautiful location with a relaxed vibe to be married in. They wanted a place where their family and friends could celebrate alongside of them and a place where they could…

  • I loved getting to be back at the beautiful Flower Farm for Stephanie and Carson’s wedding. Having previously tied the knot in 2020, it was time for the big celebration with friends and family and what a better time to celebrate with Carson’s recent graduation from medical school in St. Louis. Oh, and did I mention, they moved to Irvine just a few days before their Flower Farm wedding…talk about ambitious! Stephanie and Carson dated for many years and then officially married during covid. They didn’t want to wait any longer. They were so easygoing with the day and with…

  • I love these two! And, as it often goes, I met Soudi and Mike at a wedding this summer where they were part of the wedding party of another wedding I was photographing. Referrals are the best and usually yield super kind and cool folks. Mike and Soudi were married at the Wedgewood Sequoia Mansion in Placerville in the Veranda room on a beautiful winter day in December. Their nuptials includedboth an American ceremony and a traditional Persian ceremony. Mike’s uncle who is super funny and personable performed the American ceremony and Soudi’s dad, a bit more soft spoken, and…

  • Cara and Justin were engaged for over three years having met on Match.com.  With family ties to Lake Tahoe, they wanted to be married on the shore of the lake and chose Lakeside Beach in South Lake. Their reception was just up the road at South of North Brewing Company/Basecamp Hotel which was the first time I had been there. It was a cool venue that was sectioned off for the wedding and the bride and groom seating was right in front of a vintage Airstream. I loved that this brewery was just off the beaten path of a very…

    Erica and James

    by Lisa Richmond

Back in January of this year I first met Erica and James at their engagement session. Due to James’ upcoming deployment to the Middle East, they decided to switch things up a bit. First was the elopement, then the courthouse wedding, then the engagement session, then the big celebration with all their family and friends and now a little extra bit of good news…their newest celebration- arriving in March of 2022. I arrived just before their first look and quickly met the fun crew they had joining them as their wedding party. The ceremony was out on the lawn and…

  • It took decades for the time to be right and this past August, the time was right. Nearly thirty years later, their connection was renewed. Dave and Pam met in high school and in fact there is even a photo of them at the dance in their high school yearbook. I love stories like this. It was joy all day long with these two. They wanted a chill day- they got one. They wanted to let go of the details and just be with each other and family and friends- celebrating their love. AND they did. These are the weddings…
