Mattea and Drake planned their wedding on what turned out to be one of the heaviest downpours we’ve seen this year.
After arriving at Nikhil and Disha’s hotel at 6:15am, and finally getting to meet the two of them, their elopement day began. Nikhil and I had spoke numerous times over the last month and I was touched at all the love he put into making this a perfect day for his bride. He was marrying his love. They were smitten. I captured a few getting ready shots including with Disha’s sister, Saloni and then a first look at the hotel on our way out the door to meet up with our pilot Tim from @skydrifters in Amador County to enjoy…
Flying high above the earth, capturing the world from above gives me a chance to see new lines, and new light.
The Inn at Park Winters has a rich history. This farm has been here since 1854, when George Washington Scott, one of the first American settlers in what is now Yolo County, bought it after crossing the plains (a six-month trip!). There were so many fun options for making really creative and unique portraits of these two fine ladies.
I firmly believe that you can gauge the vibe of someone by the tribe they attract to them. If the guests at Laura and Bradley’s wedding are anything to go by, this couple is authentic, fun, and playful. I mean, what a wedding! We had SO.MUCH.FUN. Our day began at the beautiful and rustic Prospect 772 winery in Angel’s Camp, enjoying the laid-back vibe of Laura and Bradley’s closest friends and family while the couple got ready for their nuptials. Although rain threatened and the sun tested us with its disappearing act, it was a wonderful, cool day for an October…
Briana and Danny came ready to party! Taking over an entire mountain-top resort in the incredible Bear Valley, California, this fun-loving couple, their friends and family, started the celebrations the night before we arrived but that didn’t stop the festivities on their big day. The whole day was nothing short of joyful with many unique and personal moments, starting with a unique and heartwarming first-look for Briana, not with Danny, but with her grandparents. It was hard not to have tears in your eyes as they saw Briana in her dress for the first time, or when they walked her…
High on hill, overlooking the rolling fog almost covering the Golden Gate Bridge, Sahoko and Josh exchanged their vows at Blake Garden where Sahoko is doing an artist residency exploring dyes and paints from organic materials. I met Sahoko this past January while we were both working for Van Alen.org Climate Council. The Climate Council recently visited California researching the social dimensions of the food system something that Sahoko is passionate about (read more here and here). She got in touch with me just a few weeks before their wedding and asked me to capture their nuptials. Having lived in the Bay…
On July 27, Eric and Jody celebrated their marriage at Strawberry Lodge in Kyburz.(read the history of the Lodge here). Nestled in the mountains at 5700ft., their unique celebration, complete with a castle hand built by Eric, brought together many of their dear friends and family while also expanding their own family to now include their three sons, Weston, Brian and Lucas. Eric and Jody’s met on a blind date set up by one of Jody’s students… AND the student’s father is Eric’s friend of over 20 years. Don’t you just love that? With Jody’s warm and engaging smile and Eric’s…
My summer weddings have been exceptional so far and it’s all about the lovely people I get to experience. I’ve had the honor to work with some of the sweetest, most laid back and connected couples. Maureen and Curt were no exception. Last year, when they contacted me they were very clear that they wanted wedding photography that told the story of their day elegantly and realistically without a lot of “cheesy” poses…and Maureen may have even said that. Fortunately Deanna from one of my absolute favorite venues Fausel Ranch, knew this about my work, that I prefer emotion and…
